[A nod is the immediate response- and fortunately for Claude, he won't have to duck for anything else after that peep-hole; the house was made to accommodate werebears- if anything the ceiling should be quite high.

In any case- turns out garden wasn't an understatement. A sunken sitting area can be seen, along with a railing that overlooks the part of the house moving steadily down'stairs', a small stairway up to the greenhouse, and then whatever else of the 'lawn' moves on toward the remaining upper floor. It's...

A lot.] Yeah! Ummm...You said your name was Claude? I brought all my decks upstairs, so hopefully you like one of them? There's lots of different cards, and they can be played in lots of different ways so...

[ Well that's a relief. Claude's been pretty worried about ceilings recently between being nearly seven feet tall and having a pair of horns that have yet to stop growing. He looks around the room with undisguised awe, clearly impressed by what he sees. ]

That's me, yeah. This is a pretty nice place you've got. I assume you don't live here alone? [ She seems younger than he was expecting, but he's still getting used to how people talk on the network around here and what that means about them. ] I'm told I'm a pretty quick study when it comes to strategy games, so hopefully I'll be able to pick things up without slowing you down too much.

[The girl shakes her head, and eventually leads the other to the small, sunken sitting area.] Mnh-! No. Tsukikage is here, and right now there's also Narancia, and Raphtalia...and Joseph, and Dio...

Those guys! [List Complete.] It's okay even if you're slow though- most people don't ask to play anyway, so it's fun already!

[ Claude follows after Reira, craning his neck to look around the room as they go. ]

Really? I would've guessed there'd be people lining up to play a game with - you called them holograms, right? They sound absolutely amazing. I know I can't wait to see them.

Yeah, holograms!

And I guess it's because people don't talk about games a lot?

[For now, it's just decks of cards on the table; some of them have almost metallic, goo-like appearances on the cards. Others look more like maidens dressed as flowers. There's not a Lot of cards, but they Are unique.]

[ Claude looks over the decks on the table, considering his choices before deciding on one of the ones featuring the flower maidens because sure, why not the deck full of pretty girls? ]

Is this one okay? I'm not sure what I'm looking for just yet.

Yeah! You can pick any deck- we gotta teach you the basic things first, [she explains 'helpfully'.]

Makes sense. So what do these numbers along the bottom mean? That's attack and defense, right?

Mn! This is the attack, and that's the defense...some monsters have stuff written about them here, but most of the time they have a special effect instead, [she explains, pointing it out.]

And...above that, it says what kind of monster they are- like a fairy, or a tuner, and an effect monster...

Right. So how do they interact? Is it as simple as subtracting one from the other to see how much damage an attack does, or is it more complicated than that?

Mostly yeah! If it's in attack mode, that's how it works. But if it's in defense, [She explains, moving the card to its side,] Then you don't take damage even if it's destroyed.

There's lots of effects and spells too, and those are things that could change how the battle phase goes too.

[ He draws a card from the deck and looks it over before angling it so Reira can see what he's looking at. ]

Oh, I think I get it. So is the goal to attack the other player until they run out of points, rather than get all their units off the field? And ones like this one give you points back as long as they're active.

Yeah!! [He's got it!] Each side starts with a certain number of points- and if you reach zero, or run out of cards and can't draw the next turn, you lose.

Some cards can make you lose cards in your deck a lot- that's 'Milling'- so there's definitely people who try to make you lose that way.

Makes sense. So how many different cards are there? I assume it's not a game like chess where there's only a set handful of different pieces. [ He could be wrong, but just looking at the deck Reira's loaned him there already seems to be quite a bit of diversity. ]

[ohboy] A lot.

Um. Normally you pick ones that work well together though, like with a theme...and from there they're going to be monsters, spells, or traps.

Some monsters are 'extra-deck' monsters, like these, [she adds, flipping over one with white bordering.] So you can't draw them, but if you look at the instructions on them, you can summon them with the normal cards.

This game seems like it could get pretty complicated pretty fast, [ Claude muses, shuffling through a few more cards. ] I guess it's more about thinking on your feet than memorizing every move your opponent could make? Unless you know your the other player and their deck really well.

Mnh! Yeah, if you think about moves specifically, it's not great- unless you're looking at the cards they played. But if you think about things that make sense, like 'someone would defend normally', or 'someone normally wouldn't do this', then it's easier!
