[Shun frowns for a second... that wording is curious, but after a moment of thought it makes sense – Tsukikage is fast enough, he probably could have gotten an Action Card in time to block Weber's attack... and the only reason to refrain from using it would be if Akaba had ordered him to throw the match. Out of the Lancers, Tsukikage would be the most suited to explore and escape quietly... strategically, it's sensible.

Taking along Dennis MacField, while suspecting – if not knowing – his true allegiance? Not so much.

(Now, messing with Shun's Duel Disk? That's where it get's personal and he is definitely tearing Akaba a new one for that, cut ties or not.)

But he isn't going to lay any of that on the kid... instead he'll just give him the truth, which simply is:]

[But Shun certainly doesn't think so. Akaba may be hailed a genius, but that doesn't make him any less utterly stupid about some thing. (Taking his brother with him towards what will sooner or later become a battle field, letting a spy run wild, crippling Shun's capability to seal the enemy... there is absolutely no way to sell any of that to Shun.)]

[He isn't sure why Akaba pulled him out, if it's related to that refusal Reira had just voiced... his opinion stands one way or another. Reira shouldn't even have come with them to Synchro.]

If something bad happens

[He means to pause and maybe erase that when he tries thinking of the right words, but instead he hits send. Oops! He really has no idea what to think of it, if someone makes a mistake and doesn't admit it.

[Shun isn't sure what the Kid is trying to say there, so he'll just refrain from commenting. Discussing Akaba with his kid brother isn't going to lead anywhere anyway.]

He isn't an ally either.

[And in order to advance the Lancer's goal, one of them would have to take him down in the next round or two.]

You are unsuited for the tournament and any other kind of battlefield. Especially if you are just fighting to make yourself useful.

[A child shouldn't have that kind of attitude, not towards fighting, not towards anything. He shouldn't be thinking about how to make himself useful.]

Being useful means making a difference doesn't it?

I can't make things better if I don't fight.

[It's what he decided at least. The idea of fighting. If he has a chance later, he doesn't intend to run this time!]

[Especially if the Kid is looking to be useful for his brother.]

(Because Reira is a reminder of everything that Shun used to fight to protect, that he still fights to protect when hate and rage don't curl so deep that all he can think is to stomp his enemy into ground.)]

[Shun stifles a groan as he just shuts down his laptop at this; it's pointless to argue any further at this point, not when the Kid won't get his point. Not given that Akaba had hand in trimming him to follow orders, considers him vital to fight against Academia for some reason.

He doesn't know how to stop that. He doesn't know how to protect a child that doesn't know how to be one.]

...Dammit.

[Well, no answer means he agrees, as far as Reira is concerned. So he just sighs, and nods determinedly. There they are then.]
